Description
Sally Rose Stuart Zelenczuk died with her family beside her on the 22nd February 2024, aged 31, after a breathtakingly short battle with Adrenocortical Cancer. Much loved daughter, sister and friend, talented artist and dedicated runner, Sally is a huge loss to so many of us.
During Sally’s illness it became apparent that, thanks to its one-in-a-million rarity, resources for ACC are dispiritingly thin on the ground. Mainstream cancer support does not fit the condition’s complex needs, even the best experts only see at most a handful of cases per year, and treatment today is largely unchanged since the its discovery in the 1980s. The pace everything meant that by the time we had begun to grasp the situation it was already too late.
ACC Support UK is dedicated to improving this state of affairs. Under the stewardship of AMEND and NCUK, it provides awareness, patient advocacy, mental health support and community-building, as well as funding for research. We are proud to be raising money for them and working together to produce a legacy that celebrates Sally’s life while improving conditions for future patients and families.
Much of the work we are doing now centres on Sally’s art. She studied Fine Art at De Montfort University, where she also worked until her death, and was a prolific producer of art in numerous forms throughout her life.
From 8th February to 29th March 2025, Ten2 Gallery & Café in Sally’s hometown of Hinckley is hosting Beginnings, a free exhibition of Sally’s work. Originals and prints are for sale, with all funds raised going to ACC Support UK, and we have produced these postcards to assist with the fundraising effort.
Each pack contains 8 different artworks showing a range of Sally’s style, with a focus on nature, patterns and texture. All are high-quality prints on FSC-certified card, packaged in compostable wrap and posted free of charge.
It is bittersweet to be sharing Sally’s craft in this way, and we hope they bring joy to your friends and family over Christmas as they have to us in producing them. This is first time her art has been put out to the world like this, and we plan to publish more next year to continue raising awareness of ACC, and what a wonderful and talented person has been lost to it.
