Hi Everyone!
I’m Higgy, a Barnsley based artist and illustrator currently creating pieces that surround food, friendship, family and identity! I hope you find something you like in my shop.
This artwork was originally painting onto a 5” x 7” canvas board and then scanned into a computer in order to create this repeating pattern. The violet was then paired with the name of the poet Sappho who is often regarded as the tenth muse and one of the greatest lyric poets. She was from the island of Lesbos, which is where we get the term lesbian. The majority of her poems have been lost to time, with only “Ode to Aphrodite” being complete.
This artwork is a subtle nod to Sappho and her work as well as simply being a aesthetic print one could hang in their home.
